He adjusted his stance, he had to be ready. He hadn't tried using Denkouissen without his spear because... well, mostly it put way too much stress on it. Raku-Raku conducted flames well so he could use the move and it'd be fine but less sturdy objects tended to break from the sheer velocity of moving at sub-sonic speeds from sheer arm strength, let alone the impact. He'd been coating the pole in Dying Will Flames since the fight had started but he was still not ready to try and use it. If he had a damn RING to use it might be easier than just channelling it through his hands, which he still considered a damn sight better than anyone ELSE could do. Still, he was poised and ready when he heard Rin reply to him and... immediately lost his focus.
"Inazuma-kun's soooo formal, please call me Rai, or sweetie, or husband <3" it'd be nice to say he was trash-talking but Raitaro... didn't usually do that. He might have a running commentary but he wasn't prone to throwing insults at the opponent. Maybe a running commentary... he was just doing his usual thing around a hot girl, rampant uncontrolled flirting. The fact she was an incredibly skilled swords fighter did little to dampen his admiration as she leapt up high and poised to come crashing down.
Shinnosuke seemed to consider this, the moment suspended in time. It'd been bothering him for some time now but it wasn't how clearly the Sword Emperor had a hand in raising this fearless young woman it was that the fight echoed one in his youth. Of course, it hadn't been spear to sword, it had been spear to spear but this had been how he'd lost. He'd stayed low when Saya had gone high and tried to intercept her spear but failed and had been knocked out by the blow. It was worrying, it appeared history would repeat itself. But it was a sword against a spear, Raitaro had the extra range...
Perhaps sensing his own danger, Raitaro finally threw his move as the bokken crested downwards towards his head. While Rin was still announcing her attack, he struck. It was unbelievably fast, like the name implied, Denkouissen, a flash of lightning. As if in slow motion, Raitaro could see the arc of her blade and in between the syllables ki and ha he struck. His spear swung through the air barely visible even to the trained eyes of Shinnosuke as it impacted the bokken. There was a snap, a foot of the 6 foot spear flew off and spinning into the air as the slash ended and landed embedded in the ground as the bokken crashed down on Raitaro's head.
It looked as if he had lost as the wooden sword impacted but through newly made stress fractures the combination of the impact and vibrations shook the sword and it exploded into splinters as it slashed through Raitaro's unbelievably hard skull. Leaving Rin with a handle and some broken bits of wood, Raitaro looked up, Shinnosuke feared he was unconscious but... he just blinked. Unbelievable
"What is his head MADE of" Shinnosuke wondered as both he and Ayame stared in slack-jawed amazement at the now splinter-headed young man
"Huh, do you... do you have another sword?" Raitaro asked, pointing the now broken end of his still mostly intact spear at Rin "Otherwise I... kinda might have won this" somehow... Raitaro, Shinnosuke, Ayame... Hell, probably Rin, were likely amazed that he'd managed to sneak a victory here. Denshichiro would likely be impressed if that same move hadn't knocked him unconscious.

The word fired off another sensation that caused Rin's face to heat up in annoyance. He just didn't know when to quit, did he? Like she would ever marry some spear-wielding, playboy. It was completely insane. As Rin moved to attack, the sword came down, but she caught the faintest glimpse of something that rushed forward. Rin couldn't make it out, but there was no mistaking the feeling as it slammed hard into the bokken. It took every ounce of strength Rin had to hold the sword steady as she'd been trained. No, she was to close to victory, she couldn't afford to deflect the attack and leave herself exposed to a counter move. Her only choice was to cut through it.
The wood of the bokken had started to crack under the intense pressure, but there was something to be said for force of will. As the end of the spear snapped, it was sent flying across the garden and the bokken came down as intended, directly across the head of her opponent. Unfortunately, between the force behind the blade and wall that it had just run into, something had to give. In this case, it was the wooden sword, which upon impact began to splitter, shattering as it was brought down across the young man's skull.
While a bokken wasn't considered dangerous, it was still a weapon that could seriously harm or kill some, but while it wasn't uncommon for a training sword to break, it also wasn't very easy to do without a great deal of force. Rin held her ground, convinced that the technique had done it's job, assuming that Rai was unconscious, until his head raised and he blinked calmly. Worse, it was like nothing ever happened, no blood or scratches. Had she missed? No, she had been training with swords her entire life and she knew the difference between hitting a person and an illusion. This was no illusion, so how?
For a moment, Rin found herself simply staring up at him in confusion and disbelief. "... Impossible." She murmured softly, though it was the only feasible word that Rin could really grasp at the moment as she tried to comprehend what had happened. It seemed insane. She had been raised by the Sword Emperor and around the Varia, people who were capable of the impossible, but this... She'd never seen anyone take that technique head on and not come out worse for the wear, because of it. This wasn't simply impossible, it was crazy, because it required someone bold enough to actually not run from what was a life-threatening blow.
Unfortunately, before Rin got to much farther into her thoughts, the subject of the sword recalled the handle still clutched in her grasp. Glancing down, it was apparent the weapon was pretty useless now and in more pieces that she could count. However, while Rin might have been stubborn, she was strongest with a sword in her hand. If she couldn't even reach him with that, then what point was there squaring off with him when it came to fists. She didn't like it, but as the rain started to fall, Rin had to swallow the fact that she had lost and badly. "I don't know how you did it, because you shouldn't even be awake, let alone talking...." Rin began seriously, letting out a heavy sigh.
"But I guess, there's no point in avoiding the obvious. I can't very well fight you without a sword. I don't have any choice, except to concede... You win, Inazuma." Rin explained, though those last words were painfully bitter. She hated the idea of loosing, worse than probably anything else, but what else was she suppose to do against an opponent like this? He'd completely disabled his opponent, through means while unorthodox, were still effective. There was no getting around it - she underestimated him, but maybe this was simply a sign that she needed to continue her training if she'd wanted to surpass the previous Emperor. In retrospect, she'd come out here looking for something to surprise her and Rin had certainly found it, though in form she had truly never imagined.

Maybe. Why couldn't he have taken it seriously from the start of the fight? Then maybe his father wouldn't be on a verge of a panic attack on the side-lines...he'd bet his dojo thinking that Rai could beat her, which....who the fuck...oh. Now that he thought about it...she must be related to one of the Varia. That explained the hair. The VOI! The sword and the whole going around challenging various fighting styles.
Rai being serious wasn't much different from Rai being idiotic, Sheeka dully noted. At least his adoptive father, who well...avoided anything serious eventually got to it when his best friend, bodyguard, and 'special friend' made him do it...Raitaro didn't have anybody doing that him, making him act serious. Who knew what it would take to get a no-nonsense type of Raitaro out in the open. Nothing probably. It would never happen. He was just putting on a bit of wishful thinking in comparing Raitaro to Alessandro, his adoptive father who was probably one of the most flamboyant mafioso anybody would ever meet...not as much as Lussuria of the Varia of course, but he came close...
"I don't know how you did it, because you shouldn't even be awake, let alone talking...." |
[/i] Sheeka, for once, come to Raitaro's defense...kind of. Although, it probably would sound more insulting that complimentary...somehow. "Obviously, Raitaro's head is incredibly hard...but since I kind of what to be more logical than that, I'm hoping it's really not that hard and he hardened it with Lightning flames. If it was really that hard...well...he should totally use it as a weapon one day. Harden it some more with lightning flames and we'd have ourselves a very nice wrecking Rai. But...it probably is that hard." Why Sheeka, what a nice thought process...turn Rai's head into a weapon...and not in the intellectual kind of way. Glancing towards Raitaro and then towards Rin. He kind of felt sorry for her having to go out on a date right him...but that was part of the deal, wasn't it? Poor thing. He probably could make a decent enough illusion of Rin with his mist flames and the Mare ring...Oh well. "My name is Sheeka, by the way," the Italian commented before looking at Rai. "That was...an interesting fight, Rai. Learning a spear is definitely not my style, still...it'd be interesting to learn."Now, Sheeka simply couldn't end it with a compliment. If Raitaro had taken this seriously from the start...there wouldn't have been a problem. But no. He had to seriously flirt the entire time. Standing on his toes, since that was really the only way he could get to Raitaro's head, he began knocking on his skull. “Is it really that hard? I mean, really...shouldn't being smashed in the head with wooden sword hurt or something?" Nice, Sheeka... So.. that was it? He won? Welkl, he wasn't sure how to react to that, since the girl was now being all formal and stuff so he rather awkwardly rubbed the back of his head (not the front where he'd been hit apparently) and smiled at her "Hey, don't worry about it, I lucked out a bit with that Denkouissen, you totally had me with that last part, we'll just need a re-match" even as the sky was clouding over and threatening to rain, Raitaro managed somehow to keep his happy on and smiled broadly. It was weird how often he seemed to be cracking a grin in these strange situations but here he was grinning down to a defeated opponent and even encouraging her to go at it again. Sheeka proposed a perfectly rational theory about how Raitaro had hardened his head. Which, while he was actually a hundred percent correct about it, was news to the perpetually dim Raitaro since he used the ability subconsciously all the time "Huh? I can harden myself with Lightning Flames? That's awesome! I figured I'd just shock myself!"
Raitaro's pleasently lack of thinking attitude glanced at Sheeka once more as the Mist Guardian complimented his style somewhat, commenting that it wasn't his style but he'd be interested to learn. Raitaro nodded "Yeah, I've been thinking of having lessons at some point too"
. . . @ . . .. . (tumbleweed)
Hopefully the implications of this flew over some of the conversationalists heads, given how he used the spear better than his brother who'd trained his whole life in the style, for a minimum of 4 hours a day, the idea he was this good without ever learning anything was a depressing day for any hard-worker out there. Hard work can surpass natural talent, provided the work to talent ratio is properly skewed. In Raitaro's case... it's never clear whether it is or not. As Sheeka knocked on his head Raitaro did pause to think about it and gingerly tapped his head "I have no idea, dude, I get hit in the head a lot. Though there feels like a lump here" prodding a large purple swelling that was blooming on his crown, Raitaro looked decidedly worried at the size of the thing. Looked like it was a little of both ends, incredibly head, Lightning Flame hardenings, damaging the sword and he STILL had a bruise coming up. Rin really was a terrifying talent...
Still, that didn't matter to him now as he spun away from Sheeka to face Rin "Ahhh, my red eyed annngeel, it seems true love triumphs over all, so where do you want to go for the date? The cinema? the zoo? The eiffel tower in paris?" "Miss Superbi, how would you like to join Spiaggia?" Shinnosuke asked, Raitaro of course grinned broadly "Oh yeah! You totally have to join our Family too, you're definitely skilled enough and-" "Instead of having to go on a date with Raitaro" "DAMN YOU OLD MAN! I'LL KILL YO-" Shinnosuke quickly flicked Raitaro's growing swelling and gave his son a brief moment of cross-eyed indecision before he dropped to the ground howling from the weird pain in his head "What do you say?" "GRrrrkhhkh, revenge" gurgled Raitaro from his prone position on the floor, clutching his bruised fore-head.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=width,350,true][STYLE=float: left; width: 100px; height: 100px; margin-right: 5px; margin-top: 5px;][/style][/classy][STYLE=width: 400px; text-align: justify; font: normal 11px arial; line-height: 90%; padding-bottom: 10px] For a moment, Rin wasn't certain what to make of Rai's words, whether they were pity or possibly sincere, but finally flashed a smirk. "Alright, but next time, we're using real weapons. I don't like holding back or worrying about the quality of my sword." She added in a matter of fact tone, though there was the faintest of smiles that managed to cross her lips as she turned away a bit, noting the other boy had joined in and was now explaining exactly how Raitaro had managed to survive such a blow without fatal injury. "Makes sense, all things considered." Rin added, though her gaze widened a bit in shock when Rai confessed that he hadn't done the matter unconsciously. Now Rin had come across many flame users, but none that were capable of using it without any understanding of what they'd done or the damage they could do.
A hand suddenly shot up to palm herself in the forehead. "Voi! You mean to tell me, I lost to a complete moron." She snapped in disbelief as a groan escaped her. It was thing to thing he was genius, who had used his flames to negate her attacks, but it was pure dumb luck. How was she ever going to face her grandfather, after this? She was never going to live this down, and heaven help, if any of the surviving Varia ever got wind of this. Wonderful, just freakin' wonderful. Of course, if he ever learned to harness such abilities, he would no doubt become a very powerful figure in the mafia world. Sheeka's introduction seemed to snap her out of her momentary depression though, as she offered a nod in greeting. "Rin." The girl responded simply, not going into detail of her last name as Raitaro began to speak again.
This time, Sheeka had move to knock on his head and he seemed to wince, indicating that while she had lost, her skill had not been entirely fruitless. Moving a little closer, Rin could see the bruise forming. Well, of course there was, she wasn't some hack swordsman, but before Rin had much time to think on it, Rai had spun away from Sheeka back to her, earning a yelp in surprise as he called her a name that earned another flush of color to her face and along with a look of dread that crossed her features as she remembered the other part of their bargain.
Fortunately, his father interrupted once more, using the same address as before and offering something the cause her brow to raise in surprise. He wanted her to join the Spaggia family, one she'd never really heard that much about now that she thought about, but it was the catch that his son seemed to immediately have a problem with. Rin watched as they argued, allowing her shoulders to drop in dismay, before clearing her throat seriously to indicate she was about to give an answer. "First off, while I may be his granddaughter, Superbi was actually my mother's maiden name. My name is Rin Shirayama, though Rin will be fine for the time being." Rin explained seriously, apparently more than capable of handling herself with the formality expected of one in the presence of the mafia.
"Secondly, according to tradition, it's Rai's choice what he wants to do. As much as I am loathed to admit it,... I did make an agreement and as a swordsman, I have to hold it." She admitted, though her expression seemed to give away that she was not happy about being swindled by Rai's old man. However, if there was one thing the Sword Emperor had beat into her as a kid, it was that when a swordsman said they were going to do something - they did it. They didn't run and they didn't make excuses. Even if that meant she had to bite the bullet and go on a date.
"The same goes for the subject of my joining. Despite my family connections, I've only worked as an outside influence of the mafia for the past few years, so I should warn you that I know very little about the Spaggia family. That doesn't mean I'm not willing to learn, however, I think it's only fair to warn you, since your aware of heritage, the dangers of accepting someone like me into your ranks." Rin added calmly, her tone steady and formal, but seeming to attempt some reason with Inazuma family or prevent them from making a mistake they would later regret. They weren't simply accepting your average swordsman, after all, there was a lot of weight that came with someone who had turned down working with the Varia. Rin was restless and she had a dangerous streak, one that could bring trouble. Despite Rin's own hesitations of tying herself to any one family, it wouldn't have been the first time someone had offered such a proposal, just the first time she'd ever received it after loosing a fight.

[/i] He didn't even know how he did it? He really was a complete and utter moron! Sheeka's hand smashed into his forehead as he looked at Raitaro in annoyance. "You didn't even know what you were doing?! How...argh." He wasn't even going to question how he managed to win, when he had no clue what he was doing. He was going to have to respect the fact that Raitaro was quite possibly legally psychotic and handle him from there. Yeah. Psychotic. That's what he was. Psychotic and dysfunctional. That's about how he'd describe his family at the moment. However, he really wouldn't have it any other way. Eventually he'd probably join them in their crazy insane antics when they rubbed off on him. "Yeah, I've been thinking of having lessons at some point too"[/i] He wasn't even having lessons? The heck. He wasn't even going to respond to that...less he got even more annoyed with the man who was supposed to be his boss. Ugh. How would the Spiaggia survive with him as their boss? At least Rai's father was useful to the Spiaggia family...oh god. What would happen to them when his father wasn't around anymore?! One of the guardians would definitely have to take charge of Raitaro after that... "I have no idea, dude, I get hit in the head a lot. Though there feels like a lump here"[/i] "Well. You probably have a concussion," Sheeka commented, standing up on his toes against to poke gently at the large lump on Raitaro's head. "Eh. I think you have a concussion or something...I'd put some ice on it and take a pain killer or something..." he commented, poking at it again. He shifted his position on his toes to be more comfortable and scowled. "Why do you have to be so tall!? Stop being tall!" He stopped poking at the large lump on Raitaro's head when he began talking about what to do with Rin on their date, however, his father came to her rescue. Eh? They were going to have the mini-Squalo in their family? Yeah, Shinnosuke. Add to the psycho. Add another crazy to the crazies. "I know very little about the Spaggia family. That doesn't mean I'm not willing to learn, however, I think it's only fair to warn you, since your aware of heritage, the dangers of accepting someone like me into your ranks."[/i] "I don't think Raitaro is aware," Sheeka commented, rolling his shoulders in a shrug. "He's...obnoxiously stupid sometimes. The purpose of the Spiaggia is to guard the Mare rings...and actually find them." Sheeka explained lightly. "We only have the Mist ring," which was in his possession, hidden by an illusion on his left hand, but that was unimportant at the moment...hmn. Sheeka glanced down at Raitaro who was now on the ground from being flicked in the forehead and he sighed. Was he the only mature one in the family so far? Well, Kentaro seemed pretty normal...whatever normal meant... "For the record, since I doubt you know, she's the granddaughter of one of the Vongola Varia memmbers, Squalo. Please tell me you at least know his name." Sheeka stated in exasperation. Yeah. He was probably the only mature one of the guardians besides Kentaro... Raitaro laughed it off as the sweat-drop dripped down, real weapons? As in... slicing and dicing and... ulp. Still, more fights sounded more like she'd get a chance to beat him and earn some of her pride back. He could take the hit if it made her happier. So her name was Rin, ey? He was of course going to add this until his unfortunate head-shot from father and left him on the ground in pure throbbing agony. Still, he was on his feet in time to hear Rin give her brief exposition, he nodded as she stated her full name and, rather unhelpfully added " Pretty name, Rin-chan sounds nice" he grinned goofily and deftly blocked a punch from his father without missing a beat or even glancing at the hand. Shinnosuke struggled to move through the unfortunately solid Raitaro. Stupid Undead Body... still he looked serious enough as she said it was his choice. Of course, the expected course would be that he wanted the date but after a moment, he looked weirdly serious " Rin... you should join Spiaggia. You're really good and we need all the help we can get. I think if we're going on a date... I want you to say yes of your own free will, not just because of your honour" and he was smiling again that same goofy smile, his father had seen that smile nearly everyday for almost ten years. And every time he felt just a little sad at it (OOC: FORESHADOWING ). Still he listened as Rin mentioned the dangers of having her join and Sheeka chipped in saying Raitaro probably wasn't aware at which he nodded and said " Yup, I forgot, I blame my head thing. So it isn't THAT important to know our history" which almost certainly caused yet more stress for the poor Mist Guardian and a loud shout from Feren who was now healing Denshichiro. He waited until Sheeka gave his explanation before speaking and managing, once more, to sound serious " I have no idea who your family connections are but... I don't think I care. You're you, even if you have some awesome ancestry or things in your past that are gonna come bite us in the ass, I'm asking you to join for who you are" and all of a sudden Raitaro managed to pull off that Bishounen look he often struggled for under normal circumstances (mostly because he was usually drooling or mindlessly strumming on his guitar) and likely caused yet more blushing. This was interupted by Sheeka chiming in about Rin's grandfather and saying he was part of Vongola's Varia. Naturally a thought bubble popped out of Raitaro's head with Takumi in and ancient male version of Rin as he looked back to Sheeka who he vaguely thought could see what his in his mind until he said the words Squalo " Of course! I know Squalo! He's got brown hair, and a cut here and a gunsword" Raitaro nodded in self satisfaction before adding with a handwave " Besides! Vongola's Takkun's baby, I don't need to know their history" Ahh Takumi, Vongola's boss who was still Raitaro's 'go-to-help' for just about everything... " Anyway, Rin, I'd like you to join Spiaggia. I'd prefer you did it because you wanted to rather than just because of honour, but I'll take what I can get" Huh, Shinnosuke wondered, was he actually being a decent responsible boss because he genuinely wanted to... or because he just liked having an attractive girl around? He was... unsure.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=width,350,true][STYLE=float: left; width: 100px; height: 100px; margin-right: 5px; margin-top: 5px;][/style][/classy][STYLE=width: 400px; text-align: justify; font: normal 11px arial; line-height: 90%; padding-bottom: 10px] Rin watched as the Mist Guardian seemed to grow more frustrated with the would-be leader, as perplexed as the girl was on how he managed to do it subconsciously, but for some reason Rin was still stuck in sheer, placid disbelief. Good heavens, if he could do that without thinking, there was no telling what he could if he actually tried, but then there were those born with such ability. Maybe Rai was one of them, though seriousness of the moment was cut short as she watched the younger boy attempting to examine Raitaro's wounds. Dare she say it, but the whole scene was actually kind of cute and it took some amount of control not to smile at the sight. His frustration only made it more amusing and in a distant way, kind of reminded her of back when she was growing up.
Sure, growing up around the now former Varia members was not the choice many would have had for an ideal childhood, but in some strange way the chaos felt more like she was among comrades, rather than enemies. Strange, it wasn't like her to get homesick. Rai was wearing a goofy smile once more as he turned to her and began to speak. There were many who could shock or shock Rin to the point of being speechless, but somehow Rai had a knack for it as he released her from the honor pledge to go on a date with him. It was weird, but kind of sweet actually and some burden off her mind.
Sheeka soon explained that even Rai had trouble remembering what the Spaggia's purpose was, which Rai confirmed blaming one to many hits to head. "I see, I've heard tales about them from my grandfather, but up until now, I've never actually seen one. That's quite an important task." Rin spoke in a steady tone. The mission was simple enough - to locate and retrieve the Mare Rings, so that they could be protected for anyone that might misuse their powers for evil. It was a good goal, an honorable one, but as Sheeka made clear their luck had no been great, only managing to obtain one so far. Then again, Rai didn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed and recovery missions weren't as easy as they sounded on paper, Rin knew from experience.
However, when Rai spoke, Rin felt her entire face heat up in a deep shade of red in surprise and disbelief. Most people would have simply forced her into joining them, but not Raitaro. No, he wanted her join, not because of who her family was and seemed to care even less about any trouble that might have followed her. Instead, Rai was asking her join because of who she was, because of the skill he had witnessed with his own two eyes, and in that moment Rin felt her heart rate rise dramatically. She'd come all this way to escape her grandfather's shadow, to be recognized for her own accomplishments, rather than his. Now, for the first time, there was finally someone who looked at her not as another pawn or some watered down version of the Sword Emperor, but as a person.
She didn't know how to react, but Sheeka quickly interjected on the real identity of her grandfather and Rin's main concern. However, what came out of the young boss' mouth was something Rin never expected to hear. Not only did he not know who Squalo was, he didn't have the slightest inclining of who the man was, despite his title. It was a first for Rin and one that immediately earned a sudden burst of laugh in disbelief. Oh, this was rich! What she wouldn't have given to have been a fly on the wall when she informed the old man that there was actually an idiot out there that didn't know him.
"You really are clueless. Oh God, this is priceless!" Rin managed to state, through the fit of laughter that escaped her lungs, struggling to steady her breath and compose herself. "Alright, I give up." She conceded tirely, allowing her shoulders to fall as she shook her head in disbelief. There was no way Rin could simply walk away now, no matter what the consequences were. Sure, he may have been an idiot and a complete flirt, but all things considered, she wouldn't have been the first time a member of the family had ever ended up working for a rather questionable boss. Who knew, maybe she could shape him into something worth fighting and in turn benefit her own goals in the process. Either way, it would be entertaining to watch and see what came of this chaotic matter in the meantime.
"Seems to me, what you need is more than just help, Rai. What you need is someone who has experience in gathering intelligence and moving within the shadows to recover your precious rings. As it turns out, I just happen to have some training in that department, so I guess that means you can count me in." Rin decided with a faint smirk, declaring the decision that she seemed to have come to of her own free-will. Rai probably didn't realize the significance of his actions as a boss, but for the time being, it had earned him a new member of the family and it was a step in the right direction. Besides, maybe it was time she settled down and found a family, and when was she ever going to get a chance like this again? They didn't come around to often.

He'd get used to it...and probably turn psychotic like the rest of them to handle it...or maybe stay the sane one and get stressed out whenever something happened...he kind of preferred to go psycho like the rest of them though...
"Yup, I forgot, I blame my head thing. So it isn't THAT important to know our history" |
[/i] Sheeka was ready to rip his hair out of his skull! He was going to start losing his hair young at this rate. "It is important to know our history!" Pressing two fingers to his temple, he rubbed them into his head with a sigh. "I mean, not every little detail about our history, but the important stuff. History's destined to repeat itself, or so some odd saying goes," Sheeka commented. "You're you, even if you have some awesome ancestry or things in your past that are gonna come bite us in the ass, I'm asking you to join for who you are"[/i] That...that was probably the most mature thing Sheeka had heard Raitaro say like...ever. Maybe he wasn't a compete moron all the time...maybe there was a little bit of hope for him yet? Oh...nevermind. It was the wrong Squalo...but he wasn't going to bother correcting him...Not even bother. Sheeka supposed Raitaro could have his slightly mature moments, but those were fleeting and few. Although, Sheeka liked Raitaro as a person in general and he had gotten respect for his fighting from Sheeka, it would be a little while before he thought Raitaro would be a good boss. Sheeka spoke up as well after Raitaro's little speech. "I don't care who you're related to, what your background is, or where you're from either. Just as long as your grandfather doesn't show up trying to kill us, we're good." Sheeka commented with a smile as he rolled his shoulders in a shrug. "Alessandro, that's my adoptive father, picked me up off the street when I was eleven...so I don't think it matters where you come from..." Sheeka stated. It was probably the first mention of a past to anybody in his new-found family. "And you'll really like us here, we're a bit dysfunctional, but so far, I really like my family. Raitaro's got a big bro vibe going on, you know? Even if he is an utter moron at times."[/style][/td][/tr] [tr][td][atrb=style, background: #212121; width: 150px; height: 100px; border-bottom:dashed thick #467B94; padding: 2px 5px;][style=font-family: courier new; color: #FFFFFF; letter-spacing: 4px; font-size: 10; text-transform: uppercase;]words || 418 tagged|| rin, rai notes || d’aww.[/style][/td][/tr] [tr][td][cs=2][atrb=style,background: #121212; padding: 3px;][style=font-family: courier new; letter-spacing: 4px; font-size: 10; text-align: center; text-transform: uppercase;] made by aveon on btn[/style][/td][/tr][/table][/center]

Seems Sheeka was agreeing with him, which brought a smile to his face. Raitaro grinned, looked like they were in agreement, he looked inquisitively at Rin with that stupid puppy dog looks of his. It seemed she believed him when he said he had no idea who her grandfather was, which was the truth but he hadn't anticipated her finding it so funny, maybe a little taken aback he shuffled his feet a little awkwardly while she got it out of her system and waited for her answer. To find that his natural charm had somehow worn her down and gotten her to join, he naturally nodded his head and stroked his chin cheerily, blaming not so much his words of kindness but his rugged good looks for getting her to join the family.
Still, she clearly hade some skills they could use as she pointed out he didn't know much about finding rings and Raitaro decided now wouldn't be a good time to tell Rin or Sheeka that he actually used to HAVE the Lightning Mare Ring before he lost it. And because it was Raitaro he immediately had fantasies of Rin having other talents "Haaai, Raitaro-sama, I made you a bento. Oh it's in the shape of a heart how embaressing <3- VOOOOI WHAT ARE YOU IMAGINING YO-" huh... that was weird, almost like she could read his thoughts but that was impossible! Right?
Raitaro was interupted from his strange thoughts by Sheeka mentioning how his adopted father picked him up off the street. That was actually kind of sad, he didn't know Sheeka had such a troubled past. In the back of his mind, he did his best not to remember he assumed he'd been raised by little people and that was why he was so short. He did smile when Sheeka said he was like a big brother, even Ayame tried to deny they were related when she could help it! He did ponder though, wasn't Sheeka older than him? By a good year or two, why was he the big brother then... ah of course! "No worries, Shii. I'll always looks out for my littlest brother" he nodded in satisfaction, unaware that the constant short jokes were playing havoc with Sheeka's self esteem.
Shinnosuke sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose and trying not to remember the fight against Rin. It'd only upset him...
"So... you guys wanna go find some gangsters to beat up?" "Raitaro! You can't just pick fights with-" "Not talking to you, Betrayer of a young mans heart!Raitaro shouted to his father, fists shaking in fury "I was talking to my short friend and my darling Rin!" he grinned back at them, thumbs up in play and expecting a happy response to their titles
((OOC: May have rushed the right on my end but that seems like a good place to end the thread, whatchu guys think?))

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=width,350,true][STYLE=float: left; width: 100px; height: 100px; margin-right: 5px; margin-top: 5px;][/style][/classy][STYLE=width: 400px; text-align: justify; font: normal 11px arial; line-height: 90%; padding-bottom: 10px] Sheeka's words suddenly recalled to memory something the had completely slipped Rin's memory entirely, but caused her to sober at the thought. Oh crap! If he got wind of her loosing and he usually had a habit of keeping tabs on his grandchild, then he would find out sooner or later. When he did... Well, let's just say, Rin was not looking forward to that phone call. Hopefully, he wouldn't do anything to drastic before she had a chance to explain and attempt to redirect fault for the matter away from the Spaggia. "Don't worry. I'll explain things, I'm sure he won't be to upset." Rin explained reassuringly, with a faint sweat drop in anxiety. She didn't like lying, but didn't want them to worry over the matter to much. Rin did have an ace up her sleeve, she was his grand-daughter and if anyone had experience in talking the former Sword Emperor down, it was Rin. Still, that didn't mean she didn't dread how badly she was going to get it when he did get a hold of her.
She was so worried about the matter though, that she hadn't completely noticed Rai's fantasies. Fortunately, for him, she couldn't read minds or might have smacked him then and there. Sheeka soon explained about his own circumstances for ending up in the Spaggia, a matter that seemed to ease Rin's mind some. She could already tell they were more family-like than they seemed to let on, judging from how Sheeka and Rai were together. It was kind cute actually, more contenting to know that one's past wouldn't be so quick to cloud the judgement of one's future. Nodding with a warm smile at Sheeka's mention of the dysfunction, Rin couldn't help think back to the Varia members. Even when they were older, there was a certain level of dysfunction that remained, though they had somehow managed to survive, despite being at each other's throats a majority of the time.
Maybe that was why she felt so comfortable among the Spaggia, but she couldn't help chuckle softly as Rin announced that he wouldn't let anyone hurt his little brother. Then he proceeded to do something she hadn't expect by suggesting they find some gangster to beat up. Well, Rin wasn't opposed to it, but apparently Rai's father was. He was quickly rejected though, as the boss still appeared sore about him talking her out of their date. How he was even standing shocked her, but that he wanted to stir up more trouble, even after he had barely come out of the victor against her was amusing, to say the least.
"I'm could go for blowing off some steam, but I got to find something more durable first. I don't want my sword breaking again." Rin decided seriously, recalling that she was currently weaponless, thanks to Rai's weird technique. Her flame abilities were somewhat useless without a weapon to channel them through. However, her expression dropped as Rin flashed a thumbs up sigh, along with the weird nickname. "Rai, don't call me darling in public or I'm going to break another sword over your head." She warned calmly, though seemed serious enough about the matter. Just because they were friends, didn't mean she would allow him to embarrass or possibly mess with her reputation as a swordsman. A girl had to have her priorities, after all. By a good year or two. Well. He knew Rai would take that in the wrong way so Sheeka turned out, making an attempt to look fierce, but instead looked kind of adorable with red dusting his cheeks. "That didn't mean you're 'big brother' because I'm short! I swear, I'm still growing. I might grow another inch or two in the next couple years!" Sheeka insisted, hoping that it turns out to be true...as much as he says that he might grow a few more inches...he knew that fate might try to mess with him, as usual, and keep him the same tiny height. "It's just that you're not little brother material, you act more big-brotherish than litle brotherish, at least in my opinion when it comes to me." Was that supposed to be an insult or a compliment?
Finally finished with his annoyed rant about his...tininess, Sheeka turned his head away from both Rai and Rin and a pout flickered over his features. It looked rather adorable to be honest as a shade of red flickered over his cheeks in embarrassment that he had almost, indeed made a comment that referred to his shortness. He knew he was short, he just didn't like pointing it out! That was it.
"So... you guys wanna go find some gangsters to beat up?" |
[/i] Eh? What happened to that 'protect the littlest brother' Rai had just spouted out? Obviously, beating up random gangsters would put them all in some form of danger...but whatever. Sheeka had been in street-fights before...he'd lost about half of them though. It was never wise to pick fights with kids bigger than you, who weren't half-starved, and exhausted from nights out on the street...they liked picking fights with the, at the time, incredibly scrawny boy...it was probably a good thing none of them had done anything worse than fight with him. "I was talking to my short friend and my darling Rin!"[/i] "If you refer to me as your 'short friend,' I'm going to pistol whip you with one of my guns after Rin breaks another sword over your head." Sheeka stated, letting a scowl cross over his features. But...could he even reach Rai's head to whip him with one of the guns he carried around on a regular basis? He could if he stood on his toes...but he doubted Rai would stand still for him to do that. He might do that for Rin...bah. Who knows. "And, since I'm not one for beating up gangsters...I'll just watch and look intimidating with a gun in my hand," Wait...Sheeka could look intimating? Before anybody could even comment on his intimidation factor, or where he carried a gun on his person, Sheeka turned on his heel to walk out of the dojo with his stuffed animal in place to find some gangsters with his family. Or something. With that stuffed animal...he'd look more vulnerable than intimidating...but maybe a gun would change that?
