This silence, however, was not to last. The several years' reprieve following the Vongola's fall led to what was presumably a period of peace, but in truth, it was anything but. With one of its greatest allies out of the picture, the Cavallone, although formidable in its own right and nearly powerful enough to rival Vongola itself in its ferocity, was unlikely to survive if it did not tread lightly in the years to come. Many of its alliances had hinged on having the Vongola's backing, support, and mediation. Inevitably, many of these old alliances crumbled, leading to mounting tensions. Amidst the growing tensions, the mantle of Don exchanged hands once Dino Cavallone was on his deathbed after a lifetime's worth of invaluable service to his Family. The crowning of a proper successor should have been a jovial occasion—and yet, it was the Undicesimo's rise to power that marked the beginning of a darker age for the Cavallone. Tensions continued to escalate between the Cavallone and rival Famiglias to such an extent that several of the Undicesimo's advisers, backed by a small following within the ranks of Family itself, insisted that the best action to take was to dissolve the Family itself. The plan, they said, was to disappear from the mafia world and thus protect the new generation. Naturally, there were some who opposed the dissolution and some who supported it. In the end, unable to reach a true compromise, the Family split. Although half of its numbers remained, the other half dispersed. The mafia world believed the Cavallone had fallen. In truth, the remnants of the Family that had not forsaken the mafia world went into hiding, biding their time and gradually working from the shadows to rebuild lost numbers, regain lost support, and reestablish old alliances. Nonetheless, in spite of the Undicesimo's efforts, tensions soon came to a boiling point when the Cavallone's new locations were leaked. They had not frequented their main headquarters in years, but somehow, several of their new hideouts throughout Sicily had been discovered, leading to a bloodbath in which nearly a quarter of the Family—as well as a large portion of the enemy's—was lost in a single battle. By all appearances, it seemed like the logical course of action would be to dissolve the Family and disappear, but now that enemy Famiglias were aware the Cavallone were still alive, chances were that they would hunt every last member down until the Family was utterly annihilated. A blood feud could not be settled so easily. Thereafter, a silent war raged between the Cavallone and opposing Families, riddled with the constant, bitter taste of betrayal and the continual spilling of blood. Driven to despair by the loss of his closest subordinates, the Undicesimo distanced himself from his Family and grew extremely fixated on exacting vengeance. Over time, he took an increasingly aggressive approach to leading the Family, prioritizing profit over overall welfare—and to him, profit equated to nothing but the spilt blood of the enemy Famiglias. Under his policies, the Cavallone became immersed in the darker underbelly of the mafia world, regularly masterminding cruel machinations that its Decimo would have forbidden, had he still been alive. Tragically, the Undicesimo never did recover from his grief. Eventually, he focused it inward until it became self-destructive, and in the end, he made a last-ditch effort to end the blood feud and, by extension, wipe out the Cavallone's main enemies. Against the advice of his Consigliere, he and a group of trusted subordinates went all-out and managed to single-handedly wipe out the Cavollone's primary opposing Famiglias, sustaining fatal injuries in the process. Nonetheless, he had not left the Cavallone without an heir. His only child, his daughter, would take up the mantle of the new Don and raise Cavallone back to the glory it had seen in the days of its Decimo's reign. "She will make the Family rise again," he uttered to his last, most trusted Guardian with his final breath—and such marked the start of the Dodicesimo's reign. Oriana Cavallone promised, at her father's deathbed, that she would not let the Family down. | [atrb=valign,top][atrb=height,100%,true][atrb=style,width: 175px; border-left: 1px dotted #000; border-right: 1px dotted #000; border-bottom: 2px solid #000;][classy=tdhead] ROSTER [/classy] [classy=rosterhead] » HEAD BOSS (SKY), [/classy] --- Oriana Cavallone [classy=rosterhead] » CONSIGLIERE, [/classy] --- OPEN [classy=rosterhead] » SUN GUARDIAN [/classy] --- OPEN [classy=rosterhead] » LIGHTNING GUARDIAN [/classy] --- OPEN [classy=rosterhead] » RAIN GUARDIAN [/classy] --- Elijah Crescenti [classy=rosterhead] » CLOUD GUARDIAN [/classy] --- OPEN [classy=rosterhead] » MIST GUARDIAN [/classy] --- OPEN [classy=rosterhead] » STORM GUARDIAN [/classy] --- OPEN [classy=rosterhead] » NORMAL MEMBERS [/classy] --- OPEN |

Currently, the Cavallone's relations with other Famiglias in Italy are somewhat shaky, given the point that the blood feud was not exactly covert in its ferocity. However, it is that precise ferocity that has given the Cavallone a newfound edge of power, being that the Family's recent victory has earned it attention from possible allies who want its power on their side. Because the majority of its newer bases in Italy are out of working order due to past battles, the Family is in the process of reconstruction. Despite recent expenditures, there is still a large amount of wealth accredited to the Cavallone's name, and as such, it remains a generously wealthy Family. | |
[atrb=valign,top,true][atrb=style,border-left: 1px dotted #000; border-right: 1px dotted #000; border-bottom: 2px solid #000;][classy=tdhead] GUIDELINES [/classy] » Due to the Cavallone's delicate position, necessitated by the need to recuperate from the recent blood feud, all members have either already spent time being Mafiosi or have been raised within Mafia families. The Dodicesimo has a policy of avoiding civilian involvement—a rule carried over from the Decimo's time—and as such, it is unlikely that civilians can join unless dire circumstances require it. » The allegiance of all members goes, first and foremost, to the Don. This is a given, considering that the Cavallone Family is, after all, part of the Mafia. » All Guardians generally attain their positions based on strength, trust, and ability. Therefore, they are considered closest to the Don and are given the most important tasks, which can include more than Famiglia relations, protecting the Don, carrying out covert missions, and handling other work within the Family. Older guardians tend to hold greater sway due to more experience. New guardians are often handpicked by previous guardians with input from the Don and her Consigliere and are personally tutored by previous guardians. » The Consigliere serves as the Dodicesimo's adviser and holds significant sway over her actions as Don. Therefore, whoever fills this position should probably be someone older and more experienced. | [atrb=valign, top][atrb=style, width: 175px; border-left: 1px dotted #000; border-right: 1px dotted #000; border-bottom: 2px solid #000;][classy=tdhead] TO-DO LIST [/classy] » Continue to assert political power through alliances and influence, as well as build up a sizable information network on all existing Families. » Investigate and conduct more research on box weapons and, if possible, develop some. » Investigate the recent rumor about the Vongola's return, as well as Vongola's new boss and guardians, assuming they exist. » Protect all members of the Family, members of allied Families, and civilians. (The former, of course, takes highest priority.) |
